SUGAR COOKIES

️🕒Ready in  1½  hour

👥Serves 12 people.

If you are looking for a quick, easy and simple sugar cookie recipe, this is for you! The best sugar cookies have soft, thick centers with slightly crisp edges, just like the ones from this recipe. These cookies don't spread out when you bake and hold their shape perfectly. They also have a flat, even surface that makes decorating ten times easier. They are delicious on their own and with icing. We made these for the first day of school to share with our friends, and they were a hit!

INGREDIENTS

  • All Purpose Flour (4 cups)

  • Salt (½ tsp)

  • Cornstarch (⅓ cup)

  • Unsalted Butter (1 cup)

  • Granulated Sugar (1 cup)

  • 2 Eggs

  • Vanilla Extract (2 tsp)

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Sift 4 cups of all purpose flour, ½ a tsp of salt, and ⅓ cup cornstarch into a bowl. Whisk  everything together.

  2. Mix 1 cup of unsalted butter and granulated sugar in the separate bowl of a stand mixer with a paddle attachment until it’s light and fluffy.

  3. Add 2 room temperature eggs one at a time into the butter and sugar. Add 2 tsp of vanilla after the eggs are mixed in.

  4. Add the flour into the bowl and mix it together.

  5. Cover the dough with plastic wrap and roll it out. Leave it in the fridge for 20 minutes.

  6. Dust a flat surface with flour and roll out the cookie dough till it's flat.  Use cookie cutters to cut out your shapes and transfer to a baking tray.

  7. Bake in your oven at 375°F for 12 minutes.
